An accomplished performing musician.
I have a particular focus on CHORD THEORY and how it applies to learning songs, chords and improvising nice simple but advanced sounding piano parts. Also how chord theory helps in sight reading and understanding sheet music.
20 years experience playing in bands, including original projects, corporate functions/weddings, theatre shows and specialise in popular music.
I’ve played Keyboards in various shows at the Edinburgh Playhouse including The Lion King, Dirty Dancing, Little Shop of Horrors, Kinky Boots, currently working with The British Carpenters and just played on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Kings Theatre, Glasgow.
I've been teaching for over 15 years and enjoy teaching children and adults and have a fun, relaxed way of teaching, catering the lesson to each student.
I am constantly refining my teaching to make things easier to understand with quick great sounding results and enjoy figuring out the best way to let each student progress best at their own pace.
I teach how to read music and general music theory and will get you playing all the chords and melodies of any songs that you’d like to learn.
I place real emphasis on looping sections and playing alongside the student to work on coordination between the hands to develop feel and correct rhythms.
Through an understanding of chord theory and different techniques my aim is to teach you not just what to play, but how to play.
